I love assortment transformations, unlike loads of folks, I don't get overwhelmed, I enjoy rolling up my sleeves and figuring out how to make "lemonade" so to speak. When I think about some of my accomplishments in this space, I go directly to the turn around I championed at The Children's Place.
I was hired to change their look, bring fresh and new trends into their declining Girls business. The Girls division at TCP was 60% of their total revenue and had been negative comping for several years. Under new leadership there was a deep desire and urgency to turn the business quickly but no expertise in place to know where to begin.
In less than 6 months I had recut existing buys into new sillohuetes, added sequins (+new pull tests and QA structure) to the line, introduced vendors in order to chase into trends and layered in licensed (Disney, Nick, HK, Marvel, Tween pop stars) and revamped their graphic business leveraging existing positions with blanks and hired new graphic artists to update their techniques. Within 8 months, the business was positive comping, within 18 months the momentum fueled sustainable and significant growth.
