SHUTTERFLY, TINYPRINTS, WEDDING PAPER DIVAS, TREAT, GROOVEBOOK, LIFETOUCH
I was hired in 2012 to lead the Merchandising and Design team at Shutterfly through the complexities of brand identity and differentiation that came with a 200M brand acquisition of Tinyprints, Wedding Paper Divas and Treat. Let me be the first one to say, I did not know the first thing about stationery, but wasn't going to let that stop me from working to upgrade the Shutterfly design aesthetic and assortment without infringing on the brand feel of Tinyprints and WPD while enabling continued growth across all brands in size and scale.
During my time at Shutterfly, I led a wide range of exciting and challenging projects including crafting the design + product strategy across multi brand/platform company, launched more than 600M in incremental product categories, created the 1st retail concept store, built creative and internal design teams responsible for generating 80% of company revenue and creating the company's photography strategy as seen in the 2019 "Anything Flys" campaign, created the product development vertical, launched the assortment planning process and transformed the company from a product led to merchant led organization. I LOVED leading and developing such an amazing bunch of passionate and talented folks and am most proud of the hand I had in growing my org from 20 to 50 gifts designers, creatives, photographers, merchants, art directors in addition to a killer freelance designer community of more than 200 strong.

I spent 2 years at The Children's Place where as the Director of Merchandising, I transformed the assortments, processes and design aesthetic across all channels all while launching the new International business in the Middle East.
With a new CEO in place there was a ton of pressure to deliver results at warp speed and the reality was the company was ladened with long "termers" stuck in a sourcing led private label cycle with no design vision which had been negative comping for years.. Super fun, right? But really, I love a challenge, love discovering opportunities and turning around struggling businesses and this challenge leveraged every one of my strengths....Design, product development, process building, taking risks, assortment strategy and above all building relationships.
No, I did not fire everyone, sure that would have been the easiest thing, start new, but I hold issue with leaders that come in and clean house. There is fundamental and important historical consumer knowledge that is imperative to fuel change. More details and visuals (before and after) results of the massive overhaul in link to the left...go ahead and open, you know you are curious.

COSTUME DESIGN + OTHER PROJECTS
Growing up as a musical theatre nerd and figure skater fueled my passion for costume design where the costume often helps set the tone and tell the story of the character or play or program is pretty thrilling to me. Honestly, my dream as a child was to become a costume designer for TV/FIlm, I'm the dork who watches the Academy Awards for 2 reasons, um, RED CARPET and to watch the Award for Best costume design. I am so fortunate that my daughter's theatrical pursuits have given me opportunities to design at the professional scale in my spare time.
